New production plant in Brazil

On Thursday, 12 December, we opened the new production plant in Porto Feliz close to the city of São Paulo. SARSTEDT began its sales operations in what is now the eighth largest health market in the world as early as 1998. Now, for the first time. we will also be manufacturing our products directly on site.

The new headquarters of the Brazilian organisation will in future provide a home for production and administration functions on a site covering 7000 m2. A total of 17 million euros have been invested in the project so far, with a further three million to follow in 2020 for expansion in the areas of injection moulding and pre-assembly.

The mayor of Porto Feliz, Dr Cassio, was joined by Messrs Silvio Garcia, representative of the Governor of the State of São Paulo, and Jens Gust, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, alongside a whole host of invited guests to celebrate the opening of the new site shortly before Christmas.

“The local production facility for our S-Monovette® blood collection system is an important strategic step for the Brazilian and South American market as a whole. The country’s economic revival, coupled with a positive demographic trend, is resulting in a steady increase in medical investigations and clinical analyses.”, reports Jörg Dreisewerd, Managing Director of the Brazilian organisation.

“The new site will focus on manufacturing the S-Monovette® and high-volume products for the local market. This should enable us once again to increase SARSTEDT’s presence and performance promise for all of our customers in Brazil and South America in the long term.”, added Jürgen Sarstedt, enthusiastically, Chair of the Supervisory Board during the ceremonial opening, which was also attended by his whole family.

Representatives of the town and the state also seemed extremely happy to have gained SARSTEDT as a partner for the region, especially in view of the infrastructure and the newly created jobs.

As part of the opening ceremony, Jürgen Sarstedt presented the mayor of Porto Feliz with a product donation in the form of an S-Monovette® blood collection system for the local hospital Irmandade de Santa Casa de Misericordia Porto Feliz worth BRL 150,000 (EUR 32,000).

This was followed by an official send-off for two long-serving employees, Vicente Mazzeu, former Managing Director of the Brazilian organisation, and Marcia Zoratti, former head of the product and applications specialists department.

Dr Nydia Strachman Bacal was also honoured by Sales Director Rainer Schuster to round off the event. In doing so, Schuster thanked the widow of Dr Luiz Gastão Rosenfeld, the late former laboratory manager of the renowned Brazilian Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, for the contribution her husband had made to SARSTEDT Brazil.

Dr Gastão came across the S-Monovette® in the 90s at a trade fair in Germany and was one of the first Brazilian customers. Until his death in 2018, he was an advocate of the S-Monovette® and of SARSTEDT.
