New production facility in Russia

On Monday, 22 July, the foundation stone was laid for our new Russian production facility in the Industrial Park Maryino in St. Petersburg. The total investment amounts to approximately 21 million euros.

The festive event was attended by Alexander Beglov, the designated Governor of the City of St. Petersburg, Denis Bortnikov, Deputy President and Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank, operator of the Maryino Industrial Park, Dr Eltje Aderhold, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in St. Petersburg, Matthias Schepp, President of the German-Russian Chamber of Foreign Trade, representatives of the largest sales partners and all our Russian employees.

„The demand for our products has steadily increased since the beginning of our business activities in Russia in 1991, which is why we are now setting a significant milestone for our future development in Russia and neighbouring countries with this ambitious project,“ said Jürgen Sarstedt, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and shareholder of the SARSTEDT Group.

Completion of the construction project is scheduled for May 2020. The new production / warehouse and administration building covers an area of 9,700 square metres and will be built in addition to the existing sales office in Moscow.

Alexander Beglov emphasized in his speech at the event how important the construction project is for his city and the entire region: „We are very interested in setting up such high-tech production facilities here in St. Petersburg, as in particular this will create valuable jobs for our population.“

Approximately 40 new jobs will initially be created in our new plant, which will produce our S-Monovette® and Microvette® blood collection products. However, production can be expanded at any time to include other existing or new products, provided that a corresponding market potential is identified.
