Blood/plasma
Our warming/thawing system, SAHARA-III, is used for thawing and warming blood products in plastic pouches. The warming/thawing process is carried out dry, without the use of water as the heat-transferring agent. The system can warm/thaw different blood products and filling quantities at the same time. It is not necessary to pre-set warming times and environmental temperatures; this enables a standardised thawing and warming process.

When do blood components have to be heated to prevent hypothermia?
Warming blood components (to a maximum of +42°C) is limited to special indications – massive transfusions, transfusions in neonates and transfusions in patients with cold antibodies (guidelines on the use of blood products).
