Notes on Technical SpecificationsPlease note that all tube dimensions may be subject to minor tolerances. LengthThe length indicates the distance between the tube base and opening, without the closure. Therefore, the total length of the tube complete with the closure may vary depending on the push cap or screw cap used. DiameterThe tube diameter indicates the outer aperture diameter. VolumeThe figure specified constitutes the nominal volume, indicating the actual volume a tube can hold so that it can be closed with a suitable push cap or screw cap after filling. Therefore, the maximum possible filling volume up to the upper tube rim may be larger than the figures specified in the product description. CentrifugationThe specified g-force is intended to provide users with a general guideline in selecting the appropriate centrifuge tube. Our recommendations are subject to the provision that centrifuge rotors are equipped with appropriate holders and adapters. In particular, the holder bottom should be provided with rubber padding. The stability of the tubes may be reduced not only by the chemicals and reagents filled into the tubes but also by the length of time they are stored either filled or empty. Therefore, we recommend to conduct a test run prior to any critical application in order to determine the appropriate conditions for the specific purpose concerned. Test conditions to determine the maximum g-forceMedium density: 1.06 g/ml, tube filled to nominal volume and tested at 20°C in a swing-out rotor for 15 minutes. AutoclavingProducts made from polypropylene (PP) and polycarbonate (PC) can be autoclaved up to 121°C without any significant loss of their mechanical properties. Users must test for themselves if autoclaving might influence other product characteristics so as to have any adverse effect on the particular application concerned. Autoclaving tubes complete with a screw cap is recommended only for screw caps made from polypropylene (PP). Please note that these closures should not be screwed on tightly during the autoclaving process. Products made from other plastics are not suited for autoclaving. PackagingThe quantity given per packaging unit is the number of pieces packed per box. The quantity given per sub-packaging unit indicates the number of pieces sub-packaged. Stacked in a box in a horizontal position, some tubes are offered in a compact stack packaging version rather than supplied loose in bags. The stacked version helps to reduce the packaging volume by up to 40% and facilitates processing as all tubes are aligned in one direction.
