miniPERMŽ — The bioreactor for protein production

miniPERMŽ is the alternative to stationary tissue/roller bottle cultures or fermentation systems.

  • Suspension cells as well as adherently growing cells can be cultivated at high densities and simultaneous production of the required cell cultures, e.g. monoclonal antibodies or recombinant proteins.
  • Depending on the cell line, cell densities of more than 107 cells/ml and product concentrations of several mg/ml can be obtained.

Optimal cultivation for superior cell vitality

Optimal cell cultivation in the miniPERMŽ bioreactor is ensured by the membrane-based two-compartment system.

A semi-permeable dialysis membrane divides the culture chamber of the miniPERMŽ bioreactor into a production and nutrient module. Owing to the small pore size of the dialysis membrane (MWCO 12.5 kDa) neither the cells nor the secreted cell products can pass through the dialysis membrane and are accumulated to high cell densities and product concentrations in the production module.

Simultaneously, metabolites released from the cells can diffuse through the dialysis membrane from the production module into the nutrient module to be diluted or neutralized in the medium.

The outside of the production module consists of a thin O2 and CO2 permeable silicone membrane that ensures optimal gas exchange.
