TRANSWAAG

The TRANSWAAG is a microprocessor-controlled blood-mixing and weighing device that can be used where commercially available single and multiple blood bag systems are used for blood donations. TRANSWAAG indicates the volume of blood flowing into the blood bag and continually mixes it with the stabiliser solution in the bag to prevent coagulation.

TRANSWAAG can be run on mains or battery power. Donation time, fill volume, and volumetric flow are continuously monitored and determined throughout the donation session and are validated against prespecified values. Acoustic and optical signals indicate if these values are not met or are exceeded. The automatic weight adjustment (tare function) at the start of the blood donation ensures that the net weight or volume of the blood is displayed continuously. Short-term changes in weight during collection, which can occur from inexperienced handling, are ignored and have no effect on the donation procedure. An automatic tube clamp ends the donation process once the preselected volume is reached. With the TRANSWAAG Disk 01 blood donation data can be recorded and saved on RAM cards or directly to the facility's laboratory information system for further processing and analysis.

TRANSWAAG is supplied with a mixing scale, which is easily removed without the need for any additional tools. For easy cleaning and care, the instrument is designed without sharp edges or corners to the housing or the mixing tray. Software updates can be loaded simply by inserting appropriate RAM cards. Operation is extremely user-friendly as information, instructions, requests, and the options menu are shown in clear text on the display.

The carrying case is particularly suitable for transport of the instrument to off-site locations. It protects not only TRANSWAAG, but also provides convenient storage for mains components, the charger, batteries, and RAM cards. The carrying case, which is adjustable to two heights, can also be used as a support table during the blood donation procedure. The batteries can be charged even with the case closed.
