Which pipette tips are compatible with which pipettes?

The following table shows the compatibilities of all common pipettes with our range of pipette tips.

  • +

When should a low retention pipette tip be used?

When critical samples (e.g. templates for PCR analysis) have to be completely transferred.

The improved processing properties of the low retention pipette tips mean that a smaller residual volume remains in the syringe, so a more even and more complete transfer of liquid can be achieved. This is important in particular when handling small amounts of nucleic acid (e.g. in the case of PCR and qPCR) when the focus is on the precision of the sample transfer and the reproducibility of the results.

If you are aiming to save reagent costs.

Low retention pipette tips offer the advantage that as a result of the improved processing properties expensive reagents (such as enzyme solutions or growth factors) can be more efficiently transferred and less pipette loss occurs, thereby saving money.

When highly viscous liquids or those which contain detergents have to be pipetted.

The use of low retention pipette tips leads to significantly reduced development of foam when pipetting. The improved processing properties also achieve a significantly improved pipettability of highly viscous liquids.

Can the pipette tips with filters be autoclaved?

Our filter tips are offered exclusively in the certified qualities 'PCR Performance Tested' or Biosphere® plus', so it is not necessary to autoclave these tips. Filter tips should not be autoclaved as the filter structure can change, which means the functionality of the filter is no longer ensured.

What are the advantages of using the Tip StackPack refill system?

The economical Tip StackPack refill system is made up of fed-in 96-tip trays which are stacked in one another and can simply be transferred into a Tip SystemBox for use. This reduces the amount of packaging and waste and the storage space required by more than 50%.

  • +

Can very small volumes be processed precisely with Sarstedt pipette tips too?

Our pipette tips are tested for their conformity/accuracy in accordance with ISO 8655 using the corresponding pipette types and brands. This standard is also used by the pipette manufacturers as the basis for the verification of the combination of pipettes and pipette tips. This means that our tips can also be used to pipette even the smallest volumes with a high degree of accuracy. The conformity certificates are available for you to download in the ‘Technical Information’ section.

  • +

When should a filter tip be used?

If contamination of the samples and the pipettes through aerosols (e.g. acids), biomolecules (e.g. RNA or DNA) or accidental over-pipetting needs to be avoided. This is particularly important in the case of critical applications such as PCR reactions.

Declaration of Conformity

Modified Conformity Identification of Pipette Tips

To guarantee you maximum precision and reliability even when pipetting the smallest volumes, Sarstedt tips undergo regular conformity checks in combination with the pipettes of leading manufacturers in the market and in line with the international standard ISO 8655 and the German Weights and Measures Regulation.

Pipette tips that have been tested for their conformity can be identified by the conformity certificate, the marking on the labels and in our brochures.
